Really? Then how come the population has been growing here since the 1700s? And during non-deficit years? And by leaps and bounds during just about my entire lifetime?

There's more to this population growth and job growth than deficit spending. Some possible reasons that come to mind include growth in emerging industries such as biotech, technology in general, not to mention that the DC area occupies a prime spot right in the middle of the Atlantic seaboard--which my college professors and textbooks back in the 60s said was going to become one very long and huge megalopolis stretching from New York to Florida.

Are population growth and the long-running housing boom in California due only to low interest rates and the good weather?
