WIND FY97 operating profit goal in reach

MONTEREY, Calif., Oct 28 (Reuter) - Wind River Systems Chief Financial Officer Richard Kraber said he expects the company to achieve its target of 22 percent operating profit for the fiscal year ending January 31, 1997.

"Our target is 22 percent," he told a group of analysts and media at the American Electronics Association's analyst conference here. "I think we're going to make it because we were at 21 percent in the first six months of this year."

Wind River President and Chief Executive Ronald Abelmann said gross margins should be in the low 81-82 percent range, which is in the upper end of its range in recent years.

Wind River develops, markets and supports advanced software operating systems and development tools that allow customers to create real-time software applications for embedded chips -- microprocessors incorporated within larger devices.
