Stephen - The only TA trick I keep up with is the 'cup and handle' i.e.
Investors Business Daily.

Jack - I agree with you. One of the best books to read on tech analysis came with my IBD subsription: How to make money in stocks, by William J. O'Neil. His tech analysis approach is easy to understand and he uses common sense in his direction. His approach on timing stock purchases and basing patterns is excellent.

In a nutshell regarding timing: "Look for volume dry ups near lows of a price pattern". and

"Wide-and-loose price structures are failure prone."

Which also indicates that what to watch for are good stocks that are leveling off after a decline and the volume and price fluctuations have minimized. A nice relatively flat line on low volume. This pattern often precedes a nice move. This is exactly what drew my attention to FTEL. I saw this pattern @ 1.25. I just watched it go to 2.5 where then I made my purchase. Better late than never.
