Really fed up with the Law and Lawyers,

Scott, it means in laymans terms the best i can that your competitor is entitled to rely on what your patent says, what you said in application, parent application, and also grand-parent application. More Law bullcrap to keep them eating. This is suppose to serve as a check on the applicability on the Doctrine of Equivalents.
Another definition, Also known as file wrapper, which prohibits patentee from re-capturing through doctrine of equivalents, claims coverage given up in prosecution or preludes a patentee from obtaining in an infringement suit patent protection for subject matter which it relinquished during prosecution in order to obtain allowance of claims.
The application of this "prosecution history estoppel" is still a question of law. In other words lawyers can still argue the point and drain all your money.

I guess you can still use someones patent if the patentee's application are worded in a certain way or if your idea works" kinda like someone elses" patent, in which of course comes the Lawyers and the Courts and your wallet.
Hope this didn't confuse anybody worse than before, and as you can see, i don't care for the justice system much. A big circle as far as i am concerned in which at the end of the circle you are broke.
My opinion, I could be wrong. Hope this doesn't set a precedent in other patent cases.

Mike
