The Henry Louis Gates comment was beyond stupid. It brings up the spectre of the race card being used whenever things are not going swimmingly for O!, as they are presently.

The correct thing to say was that he knows nothing about the incident, which is undoubtedly true, that he has faith that the legal system will straighten things out, and that he is not commenting because his comments might improperly influence the legal process.

But no, he has prejudged the incident, made up his mind and proclaimed Gates's innocence during an important event that had nothing to do with race.

It shows how clueless he is without a thoroughly rehearsed script, that his on-his-feet instincts are weak and that his judgment is deeply flawed.

Stick a fork in him for 2012, he's cooked.
