I remember that rumor about Avie--it might even have been printed as "news" but nothing came of it.

Most consumers I know buy ZERO software. They may steal some, but they don't buy. (They aren't gamers either--gamers certainly buy software regularly.)

There are a lot of myths about the Mac--my friend in Michigan hears them all the time--I can't belief the universal grief he takes from his friends and relatives about his iMac purchase and yet he already knows way more about computers and gets more use out of his than they do. Propaganda for sure. That's why I hope that rumored Apple Store in Grand Rapids actually opens.

Selling iPods to Windows users but not having to support them is a beautiful thing.

The more I think about it the happier I am with how this quarter is shaping up. I expect very little from the PB line and unless the pro line gets bumped up in time to ship the units same with them. But the iBook should have a good quarter and the iMac a great one, especially since the top-end machine is now $1800 freaking dollars. That helps revenues a lot and profits. Retailers must love it too because there's almost no margin on $799 or even $999 iMacs.

Whenever one quarter of the product line is new and shipping in volume, Apple has a good quarter. It's going to happen again.

If one believes Bajarin is right about 12 million iMacs, if he's even in the ballpark (Alomex is right to be taking a wait-and-see attitude beyond this quarter) then one should be buying as much AAPL as possible.

Btw, that ML report caused a great buying opp. today. Number one, it had almost no new news. Everyone knew that the iMac line wasn't going to contribute much to the Dec. quarter. What matters are iPods buffing it up and the fact that this quarter is looking pretty good.

Sam, Gohm, what are you guys doing now?

Marc
