NN in China contract:
<<< Stockwatch: Newbridge Networks Corporation - News Release Date: Wednesday, February 11, 1998 11:16 AM Hunan province to install multiservices network
Mr John Lawlor reports The company has been selected to supply and install equipment for a broadband multiservices network in the province of Hunan in the People's Republic of China. Based on the industry leading Siemens/Newbridge MainStreetXpress asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) multiservices architecture, the network will initially provide frame relay services and will be linked to China's national frame relay network. The company is an authorized vendor of frame relay equipment by the National Telecommunications Authority of China.
The backbone provincial network is comprised of the Siemens/Newbridge MainStreetXpress 36170 Multiservices Switch. The Newbridge 3600 MainStreet bandwidth manager equipped with ATM services cards integrates Hunan province's existing Newbridge narrowband digital data network (DDN) into the broadband backbone network. The MainStreetXpress 46020 network manager provides end to end management over the entire backbone network and is complemented by the MainStreetXpress Connect Exec, a Telecommunications management network (TMN) compliant agent that enables the delivery of frame relay and ATM services. KeyBill and KeyInfo, from Newbridge Affiliate CrossKeys Systems, enable the Hunan Provincial Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to generate flexible rate and traffic based billing files and track network performance for frame relay customers.
The Hunan PTA digital data network has an extensive array of 3600 and 3645 MainStreet nodes, making it the third largest DDN in China. Using the 3600 MainStreet bandwidth manager, Hunan PTA is able to easily phase frame relay services into its existing circuit switched network to create an integrated, circuit and packet switched backbone network. The ease with which Newbridge equipment enables the migration of existing networks to the multiservices capability of the MainStreetXpress architecture, as well as the company's strong network management platform, were key factors in Hunan PTA's decision to select the Siemens/Newbridge Alliance.>>> |
