I agree that the $700 price is a bit much, and IBM also claimed they wouldn't make a profit on this unit????

But...

Bring the price down to, say, $400, with presumably all the same capabilities of a stand alone PC, with the advantage of guaranteed compatability throughout the corportate organization, and central upgrading of software, less downtime due to problems, I think this may make sense in a CORPORATE setting.

When this product becomes mature, I can see an I.S. manager going to his management saying I can upgrade our 500 PC's for $750,000, or we can go with 500 NC's for $200,000 and get a super server for an additional $50,000. What is management going to say? (I presume they already have monitors)
