Shoal Lake is the source of Winnipeg's water.

Winnipegger's needn't worry. The distance of 100 miles and CDN standards for tailings dams, the low relief and lack of slides and earthquakes indicates that risk is very low.

Nevertheless a dual pronged approach of protected dam walls, as well as good cyanide destruction technology would be good insurance.

Cons Professor had a property on Shoal Lake in the 80's
