NEW YORK, June 21 (Reuters) - Shares in Burr-Brown Corp.
(BBRC.O) rose in after hours trade on Wednesday after news from
chip maker Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN.N) that it would buy the
company in a stock transaction worth $7.6 billion.

Shares in Burr-Brown last traded at 101-1/2 on the Island
electronic trading system and 101-1/4 on the Instinet system
compared with a close at 72-5/8 on the Nasdaq earlier.

Meanwhile, shares in Texas Instrument, which were halted
late in the day, traded at 82-1/8 on the Instinet electronic
trading system against a close at 87-1/4 on the New York Stock
Exchange. On Island, they were last traded at 87-1/16.

Dallas-based Texas Instruments said shortly after the
regular session closed on Wednesday it would bolster its
position as the world's leading maker of computer chips for
mobile phones and Internet-age audio and data devices by
acquiring Burr-Brown.

Texas Instruments said it would issue 1.3 shares of its own
stock for each share in Tucson, Arizona-based Burr-Brown. The
deal is expected to be completed by the end of the third
quarter. Burr-Brown designs data converters and amplifiers.>>
