Overview of uses for Research Frontiers, Inc. SPD-SmartTM light-control technology.

Float 18.9MM

Research Frontiers, Inc. is the developer of the "suspended particle device" (SPD) first patented in 1937 by Edwin Land of Polaroid fame.

The story of Polaroid inventor Edwin Land, one of Steve Jobs' biggest heroes (see link "37signals")

Robert L. Saxe acquired the patent in the 1960s and set out to develop multiple uses for this particle ranging from electronic paper, electronic shelf pricing to the now commercialized products in aircraft, automotive, architectural and marine glass.

Robert Saxes's intent,, reiterated by CEO Joseph Harary in a September 2013 article, is to become a "royalty collecting/dividend paying machine." The 10-15% royalties on the net sale price of products makes this a limitless opportunity.

Welcome to the future, where smart glass will help protect our environment as was first predicted in 1997 at the Kyoto Protocol!
