DBS Posts Strong March Numbers Golden, Colo. -- Direct-broadcast satellite companies posted another banner month in March, according to SkyTrends, which tracks DBS-subscriber numbers DirecTv Inc. added 75,000 new subscribers last month, putting the market leader above the 3.5 million mark. EchoStar Communications Corp. signed up 57,000 new customers for its Dish Network last month, for a total of 1.2 million. And PrimeStar Inc. -- which recently completed the first step of its roll-up into a single, national company -- acquired 43,000 new subscribers in March, for a total of 2.05 million. - 4/8/98
