My comments about Bill are from observation. The man can sell wool to sheep if he sets his mind to it ;-) I'm not passing judgement on the intelligence of the average consumer, merely remarking on the ability of Bill to home in on and milk the instincts of people who are only too willing to open up their wallets to him in the hopes of higher productivity, better security, the next great patch, etc. But if you want to label the average Joe a sheep, well ... I won't stop you. I'm just saying what is (as opposed to what should be).

Good is relative. You have to agree that MSFT is "good" at spin, "good" at "extending and embracing", "good" at overcoming resistance, etc. It just depends on how you look at it.

Spineless or not, the PC makers have made tons of $$$ (until recently, anyway) riding on the Windows wave; and that has kept their shareholders happy for a while.
