Ron,

I'm not an economist although I do find it fun to muse on various subjects. I am simply not equipped to add much value to most economic discussions.

For many years now I've relied on technical analysis of price and volume to make my decisions. I may not understand what is driving a particular market, but the benefit of that is I never second guess what the chart is telling me.

Having said that, I live in Canada, USA's biggest trading partner. Up here the talk is 'US slowdown will affect but not impede our growth'. That I can't buy. We will be affected and more than most. (Or perhaps our prime exports will change from being Nortel to being megawatts!)

Greenspan goes on record as suggesting that 0 growth is probably already here, emergency intrameeting rate cuts, more to follow. A lot has changed in very short order, and I wonder perhaps if the momentum behind these changes still remains.

Declining rates, declining markets - I wonder if capital might find other places to hide out?
