I loved the Latin mass. I don't think I would drive two hours to hear it again, though. I "got out of the Catholic thing" when I was about 13, very devout, and wanted to be an altar girl, and was crushed to learn that there was no such thing. I realized that the Church has no place for women. If they don't need me, I don't need them, I reasoned. I have relented a lot, because in times of spiritual need I have always turned back, and been nourished, but I have not changed my mind about the fact that the Church is pig-headed towards women. Recently, some dioceses which could not scrounge up enough boys to act as altar boys let girls be altar girls, and the heirarchy came down on them and made them stop. It's things like that which make you remember this is the Church that persecuted Galileo, even though they knew he was right.
