Depauleron would definitely go for it just for
solidarity, to support Intel's move to finally
convert the world into the IntelSlot monopoly
and kill the competition (AMD).

BTW, for those who were creaming their pants in
desperate wait for i440BX chipset hoping for
more-than-ever unleashed P-II power, that's it:

tomshardware.com

In short, long-awaited 100MHz bus buys only about
2% as compared to vanilla 66Mhz bus. As I have said
to Elmer.
It means all Intel efforts to hype their achievements
are in the drain - they could achieve the same level
of SYSTEM performance just by releasing 5x and 5.5X
modes. Their R&D/marketing looks stupid here. Instead
of letting the LX to be on the market for a while and
drive the cost of mainboards down (and drive the system
cost down to compete at the point of sale), they are
launching the BX with new wave of board's redesign at
OEM, with all associated expenses.

The only reason is that the Celery-250 will have
K6-rating of 200 instead of 166, as for 66MHz bus.
However, the cost of PC-100-certified components
is much higher, so where they can get the price
advantage?
