My handicapping is still in progress.

Here are few insights into races and horses. These aren't the horses I think are the most likely winner or even who I might bet, they are just pace and bias observations from past races that lead me to believe that some horses may be better than they look.

Sprint - Thunderello - Dueled off Boston Common to win a minor stake. Both the class designation and speed figure for the race look light vs the best sprinters around, but the reality is that Boston Common has been running some sensational sprints all summer. He didn't win a few, but he was engaged in some savage duels, beat off his opponents and held up real well against decent sprinters. Thunderello outdueled him and draws the rail. T is likely to be a huge price and may get put away or buried but these other quality speeds, but he is better than he looks and lightly raced.

Filly Turf - the Yellow Ribbon was a very slow paced race. It was impossible to close a lot.

Juvenile - Bull Market set a very rapid pace in his last and held gamely. Listen Indy has a real nice improving profile.

Classic - Perfect Drift won the Spiral much easier than it looks (he was wrapped up). He then ran very well in the K Derby. I think it's fair to say he was among the best 3yos in the spring. His comeback off the layoff was also better than it looks. It's lot to "expect" him to make that leap from his springtime 3yo form to the improved level the other 3yos are now racing at, but it not impossible that this jumps up and runs better than people think. I don;t think even realize how good he was in the spring or how good his comeback was. Evening Atire has run two good ones in a row. His next to last was also better than it looks. He ran down a tough horse against the speed bias.

Filies - Imperial Gesture and Azeri both come out of front runnng races in hot paces. Farda Amiga closed down the field in the Alabama against the speed bias. Take Charge Lady closed down a loose "You" - impressive.
