Foodmaker, Inc. to Redeem $50 Million of Debt

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 1998--Foodmaker, Inc., operator and franchiser of Jack in the Box(R)
restaurants, today said it has called the remaining $50 million of its 9-1/4 percent Senior Notes, due 1999. Payment is expected
to be made through bank borrowings and other sources of funds available to the Company.

The Company previously called for redemption on April 15, 1998, $75 million of the 9-1/4 percent Senior Notes utilizing
principally cash on hand.

In addition, on April 1, 1998, the Company entered into a new revolving credit facility for up to $175 million.

Foodmaker operates and franchises 1,330 Jack in the Box restaurants in the West.
