What you say is true but why? In part it's the time of the year. A good percentage of stock gains are traditionally made between Late October and Mid April. When you combine that with Fed action and a market that was already inflated it makes for a more painful process. In many cases we get a summer rally that starts just about the time you are ready to hang it up. The summer rally seems to start around June 10 - 15 and run through mid July. If you look at the charts this rally can be almost straight up. Hang tough and have cash on hand.
