Moonglow: Want the youngster to learn something? Then, unless you are a psychic, let him make his own decision and live with the consequences of that decision. Help him deal with reality -- every day has it's unpredictable risks. No big deal if he chooses to stay at home and his classes go on uneventfully. He will have made a decision and will be reinforced for that decision via peer pressure. Regardless of what he chooses to do, his action should not be based upon the emotional-based facts defined by a fearful, although loving parent.
