Ron/Dan/Dave;

For your information an alteration halo is a zone which has been altered by heating. The source of the heat in our case would be due to an intrusive pluton.
The heat does some interesting things, it can concentrate metals, change minerals while dissolving and carrying others away and many other wonderful things. In our case I hope that it has concentrated some of the metals.
If they are talking about a halo that is 0.8km by 1.0km then we are talking a fairly good sized halo.
To give you a better idea of what a halo is, consider a dart board. The bulls eye is the most altered zone and the double ring is the least altered. Varying degrees of alteration go on over the board and in different directions. Much will depend on what the original host rocks contained and the origins of the pluton.
From my knowledge of the areas we are talking about, we may have some very interesting results here.

Good Fortunes

Matt
