the problem is we as individuals have no power to negotiate. Its basically a take it or leave it proposal. Even those employed are limited to what their employer negotiates, some better negotiators then others. As to transferring costs, you are right but its true of ALL insurance. I need blood works done qtly. My bill will say $60 for a lab test, Allowed by insurance $2.65. Paid by insurance $2.65. Can you imagin the poor SOB with no insurance being expected to pay $60 when everyone else is paying $2.65? (numbers from memory, probably not exact but they make my point.) jdn
