Jobs is a very smart guy, but he totally blew it with marketing the Mac. He had a machine with a GUI and a mouse YEARS before the competition. It was obvious it was easier to use and more productive.

Yet, somehow, he let IBM claim the business market with their user-hostile PC and then let them catch up and own it with Windows.

What Jobs is great at is seeing the worth of great ideas, and turning them into products for people. He found the Mac hiding at Xerox, and stole the idea, that was going nowhere there. But, they weren't HIS ideas - they were invented by Xerox engineers and other engineers.

"It was the first commercial system to incorporate various technologies that today have become commonplace in personal computers, including a bitmapped display, a window-based graphical user interface, icons, folders, mouse, Ethernet networking, file servers, print servers and e-mail."

Apple may be the company that finally makes the breakthrough that integrates computing with TV.
