Sure, some people are going to sell on SARS. Reminds me of Chernobyl. That's right, when Chernobyl blew up, people were selling everything. I made a ton of money shorting Dean Foods (DF:NYSE - news - commentary - research - analysis) -- milk! -- and McDonald's (MCD:NYSE - news - commentary - research - analysis).
But it backfired, and those who stayed short got crushed.

SARS will affect earnings. More important, it is a perfect reason to blow out of stocks after a big run.

But when will you get back in? When will we know that SARS is "in" the market? I suspect that it won't be susceptible to an answer. When was Chernobyl "in" the market? When anything remotely related to food and travel had been slammed up and down and gotten in the "Heard on the Street" column.

Ahh, there's a good benchmark, the Heard. So it hasn't happened yet.

Give it a week.
