I mean in the aggregate our losses are huge. Not just in manpower and treasure

Not at all in manpower, or in "treasure" compared to our economy. Out losses in those terms are tiny compared to most multi-year wars we have been involved in, esp. in terms of KIA. As for credibility and influence, those issue is far more complex, esp. when your still in the middle of the situation rather then looking back at it with long term hindsight, but I'd say Vietnam caused us more problems in this area than Iraq, and also I'd consider the "blood and treasure" measures to generally be more important yardsticks to consider how big a loss is. That's esp. true when your trying to consider the idea of Pyrrhic victories. Pyrrus lost a lot more men then the US has from a population base that was tiny compared to that of the US (or even compared to Rome's). His losses where Pyrrhic because of the losses of men.

As for your comparison of American soldiers to useless targets I'm done with that. Its inaccurate and insulting to our soldiers.
