Infowave Software Joins Wap Forum

RDSL

18 August 1999

Infowave Software (Vancouver, BC), developer of software which connects PDA and handheld users to corporate networks, has become the latest member of the WAP Forum.

The move is part of the company's efforts to take advantage of the potential offered by the roll-out of wireless application protocol services. The company has developed a new software product, codenamed Kodiak, which enables cellular phones and pagers to access enterprise data via the short messaging service.

Most major wireless carriers plan to launch WAP services towards end-1999 or during 2000, with the US WAP-enabled phone market forecast to reach 30 mil-50 mil units by 2003.
