Re: Intel as NC CPU vendor

I think Ellison is right that most NCs will be stripped down Intel machines. The best platform is a 486 with 16M RAM and a 500M HD running Win95. This is a low value system that won't make anybody much money. The RISC folks can create a system with a RISC CPU, 8M RAM, and no HD that would cost a bit less, but the profit margin would be small.

The real money will be made in the servers, since that's where the CPU power resides. Intel should do well with quad PPro systems and Deschutes systems scalable from 5-32 processors. I'm glad I sold my Sun stock.

Does anybody have an analysis of the potential revenues and profits from quad PPro and Deschutes systems?
