I went to see SWING last Sunday.
Glad you liked it, John. I saw it in New York last December, My friends, Ryan Francois, and his wife, Jenny, are in it, and did a lot of the choreography. He did the choreography for the movie "Swing Kids". The Show poster with the over the head, "Helicopter" move is their signature move, although they are not the couple on the poster.
The dancers are Jazz dancers doing swing, which we purists can quibble with, but it is great for the public, and helps promote the dance.
This show opens in Los Angeles in November, and I am arranging for a group of about a hundred. We are trying to set it up with a band on the Plaza that we will dance to before the show, and during the intermission.
The best part is the great music, with excellent musicians performing it. From about 1935 to 1945, a small group of musical genius's composed the greatest popular music in the history of the world, and this musical showcases some of it. . |
