Retreading same issues isn't useful. What *would* be useful is to discuss mobile operators and manufacturers in a wider context. Why were the US GSM operators up by 500-900% during last year? Why did Sonera pick up more than 200% and overtake General Motors in the market cap? How did Telefonica become such a hottie after last fall? What does that tell about the expectations markets are now placing on mobile data, developing markets and consolidation of the industry?

Why were the US and Canadian CDMA operators up hundreds of percent last year? Why did Vodafone pay what they did for Airtouch? Why is DDI up 1,000%? Why could anyone throwing a dart at Korean operators make a fortune? Ignore all but Europe as long as you can.
