Linda, Craig, Cacaito, David, Bill and soup,
Thanks for your thoughtful comments. From where I sit, a lot of good points were made on either side of the issue. It's my opinion that all the contributors here, whether they are more business-like or more social, are an asset to this thread. It sounds to me like we can either grumble at each other (which I hate) or try to find a compromise. David made a number of good points, but I felt the business about having to read ***OFF TOPIC*** flags was a little narrow. How about if people that needed personal help, or whatever, used ***OFF TOPIC*** and pasted in there e-mail address on the post. That would involve both sides giving a little. I will begin by posting my e-mail in my profile. I'm not a flamer, but I also don't generally give my e-mail out at random as I too have a great deal to sort through daily. And soup, I appreciate that fact that you have a professional stake in Mac support, but please remember that the helpful and caring nature of the Mac community is one of its assets. I don't think Linda should be chastised for seeking help. If you are so knowledgable as to never need help, then you are a lucky man. And thanks for the kind comments regarding the "misleading reporting" issue. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on what you think the agenda is here. Of course we could start a new thread for every little thing that comes up, but you all know that wouldn't work. Afterall, Apple's not hot enough to put more that 3000 posts on this thread in over a year. I too have been with this thread since the beginning and I think it could use more input as long as it respects the dignity of others. The Web was born out of anarchy. It has always succeeded or failed based on the behavior of individuals.
Thanks for tolerating my use of the bandwidth. I too am off my soapbox and you won't hear any more out off me on the subject unless I'm addressed directly.
