JC,

QNX has good technology, but somewhat introverted marketing.
They've been an x86-only player until this week's announcement
of RTOS ports to PowerPC and MIPS. They are now going after
the sweet spot of the deeply embedded market. In the past,
they played more in the embedded PC end of the market where Windows
NT is now making big in-roads.

The Cisco win is a big deal. According to the Electronic
News article, Cisco likes the memory protection features of
QNX.

Bottom line -- This announcement along with Windows CE is making
the embedded space much more competitive.
