Jake's mom, CEO said they are 3-5 years to develop anti-cancer drug. Cloning the enzyme is not the key to cancer and does not have to do with preventing cancer. Cloning telomerase is for Anti Aging. All the have to do is develop a drug to stop the enzyme Telomerase. The cloning gene has to do with anti-again and prolonging life.

If you cloned telomerase to multiply in a cancer victim, he would die a quicker death. However, if you cloned telomerase in a healthy individual, they could easily live for 100's of years.

So the cancner cure thing is only years away. But the anti-aging will be more difficult to develop since there may be a lot of complications.
