Chic - your tossing up a lot of FUD - when you say "Microsoft Style" Monopoly, are you referring to Microsoft and even the courts admission of a "Natural Monopoly" that arises due to the high barriers of entry and intellectual capital of technology or Microsoft's illegal activities to tie, leverage and otherwise squash competition due to its monopoly in Operating Systems? Sun has intellectual control of Java, Sun is the inventor of Java. Java is 1 Billion times more Open than Windows. Java is still evolving. Anyone can define a java API under the Java Community Process with Open Source Code that goes thru numerous public reviews. Using your logic, anything could potentially become a monopoly - but Ill stick to the definition that its an illegal Monopoly when the company with that power uses it illegaly - until than, it is NOT a "Microsoft Style" monopoly!
