Scott,

Thanks for the reply. All good points. Let me take the major areas.

Do those ATM #'s include LAN?

No, the ATM LAN products were in a separate category which I didn't post. Not worth it since ASND isn't in that segment.

Regarding NTT, yes...Larry posted the release. I must have missed this - DOH! Nice release but still their first win. I agree with you that this could be the start of something big for ASND, but I doubt that this network is deployed so ASND will have their work cut out for them. If they succeed then perhaps ASND will begin to get their growth rates UP to the growth rate of the market.

As far as AT+T, who told you that, a Cisco sales rep. I think you would agree that most carriers(especially AT+T) care only about Price/performance,reliability.

Let's just say I'm close enough to know and I'll leave it at that. AT&T's frame relay network is pure CSCO/STRM and they wanted to spread their risk. If demand for the network picks up they must be able to deploy switches fast enough to keep up with demand or risk losing customers to competitors. Same with the frame relay network which is still CSCO/STRM. If both infrastructures are under deployment pressures they didn't want to be dealing with a bottleneck at one manufacturer. Note that this decision was made prior to the CSCO acquisition. IMO if STRM was acquired prior to the decision than AT&T would have been more comfortable with a single source. Bottom line - every supplier of products or services does not like to single source - it's death. AT&T is not different here.

As far as ISP's go forget them, they are now irrelevant.

Strong words. I wouldn't be too hasty. If this is the case though then ASND is in trouble since this is where the majority of their business has come from. Anyway, I think the larger ISP's are retooling their networks to become multiservice IP carriers. I agree that the smaller ma and pa ISP's will go away or get bought.

I have a source from Ascend(biased i'm sure) who is telling me that while everyone is worried about Cisco Moving on Ascend, Ascend is taking Cisco and Newbridge down. Stealing market share in the core.

What's your friend do at ASND? The numbers I posted a few days ago tell a different story. These are unbiased numbers. What does your friend say about the analysts? Also, why did they lose US West? Are they losing their grip faster on their RBOC customers faster than they're gaining in the international markets and IXCs? Analysts seems to think so. Again, this is not my opinion but independent sources.
