DDuncan: I've found out why the stock has been moving, IMO.
I'm holding the Punk Ziegel report dated 3-3-98. This thing reads like a snake oil salesman's best pitch. If it's correct, and I'm doing some homework to see if it's feasible, then IMNT won't even be selling below 50 by this time next year.
The story goes something like this:
1. Mgt has already confirmed the high end of analyst numbers for the quarter. This is the earliest they've ever done this during a quarter indicating possible upside surprise by a penny or two.
2. Next couple of quarters should be increasingly better with continued increases in backlog of orders. Expect to see analysts increase their numbers as each quarter comes to a close.
3. And now for the BIG KAHUNNA...He's looking at a possibility. No probability that IMNT will bet a HUGE Department of Defense contract that has just been announced. His reasoning is that IMNT is the only vendor on the required NT platform that can do the job. The VAH has been very enthusiastic about the product they've received and will be influential in who gets this contract. He gives a number of other reasons for IMNT to get the contract that are too long to type myself. And, oops I almost forgot the best part. The size of imaging part of the new DOD contract is $800,000,000 with a mandate that the work be able to be begun immediately. Nobody else has the ability to do the work but IMNT according to this guy.
No other analysts seem quite as enthusiastic about this DOD contract, but all agree that we'll see 40 in 12 months based on current order flow and continued earnings momentum.
Good Luck to All. R..
