Craig actually I am rooting for a shortage in drams. The
moves being taken by the factories though temporary will
produce the neccessary effect if demand picks up.
The Compaq statement is more wishful thinking than
statement of fact since it was made long before the
current announcements of reductions in dram production.
One thing you can usually bank on in this business is
that they never get forecasts right and overdo corrections
in manufacturing either too much or to little. So when
they start announcing cutbacks shortages will appear
however, how far down the road is strictly guesswork.
We have seen stagnant sales last 2-3years because of
an overabundance of product and have seen shortages that
last 1 1/2-2 1/2 years.
Good Luck
Regards Jerry
