To all who ask if the Stock is up:
Hello all,
In this "Quiet Period" ( a partial news black out) I have actually squeezed in an hour or so of research each day. THE GORILLA GAME by Geoffrey Moore seems to me to be written for all of us. may I recommend it again to you.
I like the way Moore emphasizes the following:
1. All stocks are risks; bb stocks are at the greatest level of risk! As the I R Wall Street man, I constantly sing this tune: "Caveat Emptor"
2. The Reward level in this same high risk area can be phenomenal according to people like Moore. Simple mathematics. Besides, How do you quadruple your money in Consolidated Edison?
3. What actualizes the phenomenal potential for growth (hyperpergrowth) DISCONTINUOUS INNOVATION - something brand new - something like the first phone or TV or PC.
Here's where (IMHO) the book starts to look like description of ECNC. It's excitingly scarry..
For example, I talked to a VC man today who may be willing to go into his own deep pockets and to talk to some of his friends. He was very positively surprised at what we are doing. Here is a brief quote from the paperwork I sent him. Some of it will ring familiar to your ears:
"Our modus operandi has a functional simplicity; we provide the Internet consumer with an easy to use card reader which we call the ePin. The ePin connects between the keyboard and the PC. Then, the consumer simply clicks the ePin icon on the website and follows the instructions that appear on the screen. If a credit card is utilized, we call that an enhanced credit card transaction (totally encrypted, safe for the buyer and the merchant). If an ATM PIN is used, CASH IS SENT ACROSS THE INTERNET, cash - not virtual money. Thus imagine paying your mortgage about 5 minutes before it is due and you are 1,000 miles away from home away on vacation. Imagine paying your taxes on April 15 in your living room or with your laptop on a plane."
Now the one thing the V/C man stressed, and herein is the point of my verbosity, YOU GUYS LOOK LIKE A GOOD DEAL FOR THE LONG RUN.
4. Geoffrey Moore would concur. He would urge you and me to set goals, of course, BUT TO REALIZE THAT IT TAKES TIME - even for companies allegedly in hypergrowth. Yet, I saw people get upset today when we went from .26 to .19 (where we are now as I type). This myopic watching of stock fluctuation is only going to churn your stomach to the profit of the pockets of the gastrointestinal physician. IF (I repeat IF) you are looking for an aggrandizement of more than a few pennies, then you must THINK LONG.
There are no sure things in the market. The faint of heart need to call the broker at BNY or Fleet and buy some "FDIC". The rest of us need to enjoy this period of time, keep doing our dd (I never cease) and smile whether we end the day at .26 or .205 (which ECNC is as I now finish typing)
