Carl, that chart really doesn't accurately depict a company that has run up a 23+% compounded increase in asset value for each year during the last almost 30 years. The fact that it didn't grow as fast in the last two years (when the stock fluctuated between $55,000 and $70,000 or so per share) does not mean it's no good. When I first recommended the shares in 1981, they were $295. A modest 10-share investment for my daughter enabled her to buy a house in Santa Cruz, new car, pay off her student loans, and have plenty left over.
