Likely an increase in insolation. There is no good mechanism for an increase in CO2. Now, this wasn't true for those cases where the Earth was frozen solid. There, it likely was an increase in CO2 that preceded the temperature increase.

"Because we now know that the CO2 tracked the previous GWs by hundreds of years, that the CO2 increases back then were most likely even caused by increases in the world temperatures predating the CO2 increases by hundreds of years."

It takes a little time for the exposed organics to oxidize.

Only because you choose to ignore the amount of CO2 that is being dumped by human activity. Why, I am not sure. All of the evidence points at a particular conclusion, yet you persist in looking at the finger doing the pointing.
