The Israelis went all the way to Beirut. I guess they never noticed they have crossed the border into Lebanon. The PLO was using Lebanon as its base for attacks on Israel. The Lebanese government was unwilling and/or unable to stop the PLO. Lebanon was in a civil war. You think it could afford to start a war with Israel? Israel took advantage of the situation....completely. And there is nothing that justifies occupying another country for over 20 years esp. when you covet their water. Later Hezbollah provoked a war with Israel. Who did the provoking? Hezbollah. You really don't believe what Fox News of Israel says about the matter, do you? Its not just Fox news and/or Israeli news sources. Who else told you? "To my knowledge Lebanon's government hasn't waged war against Israel since 1948, and it was only a small part of that war." What do you call invading a country? A walk down pumpkin lane? If you can't read the whole post, your should at least read the part you quote. Once again - "To my knowledge Lebanon's government hasn't waged war against Israel since 1948". It wasn't a comment about what Israel did. Truing to Israel's invasions - The problem with Lebanon's government is that it doesn't control its own territory. The PLO, Hezbollah, Syria, and various other groups have controlled large parts of Lebanon, and a number of them would wage war against Israel from Lebanon. Well yeah....bullies tend not to respect boundaries.....and that includes Israel and Syria. Imagine Al Qaeda was attacking the US from Canada, and that they had bases and training camps operating openly in Canada and the Canadian government didn't even try to hinder Al Qaeda. The US would likely attack the camps, and it would be completely justified in doing so. Mexico encourages its residents to infiltrate the US and yet we do nothing.
