Explorer Steals Internet; Read All About It! Independent study finds Internet Explorer 3.0 beats Netscape Navigator 3.0. I've worked for Prodigy's IBM Club answering technical questions to those in need since 1993. I'm a web designer and my web pages have won numerous awards.

This longtime WWW Pioneer has been using Netscape's Navigator from the beginning. I've tried MSFT's Explorer version 1.0 when Windows 95 came out but never looked back since Netscape was much more superior and ahead of the game. I've been such a dedicate Navigator user that when friends tell me that they use Explorer I thought, "WHAT?!?" sort of like they moved to a new religion.

A couple weeks ago, I decided to look back and see how MSFT's been doing by downloading their Internet Explorer 3.0 softare. My review; AWESOME. Oh what a difference a version make unlike NSCP's versions which are graphically as appealing as version 1.0. Since then, I've been using MSFT's Explorer daily. It make surfing the web a more enjoyable experience with the slick newbie-friendly interface.

I've seen a DRAMATIC improvement between Internet Explorer in both functionality and graphical interface from Version 2.0 to 3.0. But when you look at Netscape Navigator, THERE IS PRACTICALLY NO NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE from NSCP's Version 2.2 to 3.0 from my normal every day use. It's nearly the same ugly and blocky interface as Version 1.2. Did Netscape really desearve to have a version 3.0 stamp on their product? It looks more worty of a "2.5" version, in my opinion.

And now NSCP is trying to push a Version 4.0? I really think it only deserves to be the real 3.0 version and they're trying to play catchup with Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.0. The beautiful and functional IE that upset Navigator as most favorite browser.

Importance of the move to Explorer. I think it's better that I've "defected" to MSFT's Explorer. As a web designer, it seems as if the Big Wig web pages are pushing for Explorer and being designed around Explorer (ie. Wall Street Journal, ESPNet, Superbowl Web Page, etc...).

Also, the big online services are moving to Explorer as their default browser. Examples include the largest Internet Access provider America Online. Then there is the largest sole ISP AT&T Worldnet service. And then CompuServe and Prodigy are also joining the Explorer bandwagon. Even if I think that Explorer is the better browser, it's better to go with the herd.

MSFT Internet Explorer will take the Internet. Soon, they'll also take the Intranet. It's only a matter of time.

Just my Prerogative,
Ch¡-X has Spoken!
