I am not forced to run* Windows, but historically I have been forced to PAY for it by all the major PC vendors.* Anyone sophisticated enough to run something other than Windows is sophisticated enough to assemble their own PC. None of the alternatives are easier to install and run than Windows. Build your own machine, put Linux on it, and stop whining. You'll get the OS you want and you'll get quality components instead of the piece of sh\|t $2 modem and sound combo cards that the big boys use to cut corners and the price.
