A rule of thumb is that things have to be twice as good in price/performance ratio for the bulk of people to go through the pains of an upgrade.

Currently I think Apple is realistically poised to provide a

15% better UI
20% faster machine
40% better OS
15% easier to use/maintain
-5% cheaper price
-5% slower execution rate

we come up with 90% percent. I would appreciate comments on Apple could improve on those percentages and what are the chances of such an event.
