CANADIAN OILSTOCKS/ HOT STOCKS
Abacan Resources
Toronto Exchange: ABC
Nasdaq: ABACF
October 5, 1996

Abacan continues its roll. Yesterday, up $0.75 in Toronto on volume
of 2.1mil shares, and up $0.625 on Nasdaq, volume of 1.9mil shares.

Abacan is still rising in reaction to expected results from its Nigerian oil
play. The stock has risen from $9.00 on October 1, a rise of 21%.
Since July, when the stock was at its 52 week low of $4.78, shares
have increased 128%.

Footnote: I'm the guy who bought into this company at less than
$3.00CDN/share and got out because I preferred investment in
domestic operations and thought play was too high risk, as I have
mentioned a few times prior. I don't know if you can really say I made
a judgement error, but I can say I am missing out on a good run. To
John and the Oilman, contiued success on this one. You've got a
winner here and I hope it is the next Triton Oil.
