Dear Eric: I cannot comment on Social Capital. To me its just a FANCY term for what we have ALWAYS called GOODWILL. I can tell you its VERY important, but its also nearly impossible to measure initially. It comes through with operating earnings eventually if its any good.
As to investment income, the comment made is MISLEADING. All investment income AND investment expense shows up as OTHER INCOME AND EXPENSE at the bottom of the Operating statement just before Pre Tax Operating Income. So yes, its included in Operating Income BUT its easily identifiable and its no different than the Interest expense disclosure. So I see no big deal there. JDN
