A JVC spokeswoman said the current JVC/EchoStar hybrid D-VHS VCR/DBS receiver will not play back the Super VHS ET tapes in, but future JVC D-VHS units may. She said pricing for the new decks will not be higher than current S-VHS equipment, although no firm price points were announced.

JVC currently markets an entry S-VHS deck for $399. The first of the new-technology products are expected to reach market by the end of the year.
