Mr. John Leask and Mr. Eric Wiltzen report
Drill testing of lower-plate targets at the Indian Ranch property in Eureka County, Nevada, has begun. Drilling will test favourable host rocks, open-ended gold mineralization and strong pathfinder geochemical anomalies where they are converging toward structural zones.
Detailed drill chip logging has recognized zones of decalcification, silicification and carbon remobilization of silty limestones over widths of more than 500 feet. These zones are associated variably with strong pathfinder geochemistry and low-grade gold mineralization. Drilling will focus on areas where these diagnostic features are convergent into structural zones identified by geophysics.
The drill program will consist of 6,000 feet of drilling in four holes. A 40-hole program is planned for later in the year, beginning when the permits have been issued.
The Indian Ranch property, comprising 607 claims totalling 12,140 acres, is 15 miles southeast of the Gold Acres- Cortez window where Placer Dome and Kennecott are operating one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines. Chapleau is earning a 50 per cent interest in the property for exploration expenditures totalling $1.5-million (U.S.) and payments totalling $500,000 (U.S.).
