Glenn i hear that debeers is going to use its name in a major marketing effort. any thoughts ?

Ike,

This is accurate. I am not sure how this will play out. This would be a new occurance for me in my entire career. DeBeers is reducing their site holder numbers and trying to direct business directly to them. DeBeers is also trying to convince the US Government that DeBeers does not have a monopoly. This is competion for high grade rough coming from Canada now. DeBeers has not been able to control that.

I can say for sure there is going to be more supply of high grade rough around and there will be weakness in the diamond market for high grade stones unless this Direct marketing campaign works. My opinion is this will not direct sales specifically to DeBeer's site holders as planned. I would not bet money on that.

I personally am not loading up on higher grade finished goods until I can see a trend here.

What do you think will hapen?
