Jerry: I'm glad someone posted something with some truth in it.
Not only did Mostek "borrow" from TI, but the patent issue was
critical in the demise of the company. To miss this point is to
make David Young's comments a total joke.

Also, EVERYONE (perhaps except Mr. Young) knows that DRAM prices
have been dropping since the beginning of DRAM and will continue
to do so forever. Ignoring the aberations of the short-term DRAM
shortage, that is the nature of semiconductor technology. Falling
prices is no reason for panic.

By the way I would also be interested in expansion of the Parkinson
connection comments.

Lastly, Micron will survive because they are the best in the industry
at getting efficient production die. I know for a fact that they
rework their designs to get more cost out of the product that anyone
else. That is why they are always "late" moving to the next product.
They're still profitable on products that others have given up on.
My understanding of Micron's entry into 16MEG DRAM is that they had
planned to migrate about now in the product cycle. The 4MEG price
crash is a temporary glitch. Micron will not die.

David Young needs to study DRAM history, not just grab a tidbit.
