I wonder if you saw the recent work in Nature (May 9, 1996) entitled 'Low-threshold cold cathodes made of nitrogen-doped chemical-vapour-deposited diamond.' It's from Tokai University (Japan) and it is claimed to 'augur well' for the use of diamond as a cathode material in diode and FED devices. I read that although diamond has some nice properties, it needs to be doped, for example with nitrogen, in order to be able to work with low voltages. The work described uses urea as a source of nitrogen for doping of CVDed diamond. Is this too early to tell how/if/when will have relevance to commercialization?

I barely understand most of this; I work in biotech and that's why I happened to read Nature; thought people in this thread may have something to say about this 'new' development.
